Privacy policy
Effective October 30, 2026
Better Together is run by Adam Smith Software LLC. This page explains what we collect, why, and what control you have.
What we collect
Your account. When you sign in, our sign-in provider, Clerk, confirms who you are through Google or an email code. Clerk holds your email address. We store a Clerk account ID and don't keep your email address in our own database.
What you contribute. This means spam reports, ideas, comments and votes. A report can include a sender, a message, a time, a business name, a description, and whether you consented or opted out.
Your phone number, only if you offer it. It's optional. We keep it private and leave it out of everything shared outside Better Together.
Basic technical logs. Our hosting provider records requests, such as the time, address and path. We don't deliberately log message contents, phone numbers or sign-in tokens.
How we use it
- To store your reports and show them back to you and your agents
- To find patterns across reports, using explainable rules
- To run discussions and advisory polls
- To tell you what has happened with things you took part in
- To prevent abuse
We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
What other people can see
Your reports are private to you and the founder. Other members never see them. They can see that a campaign exists, and, once enough people are involved, roughly how many.
Ideas stay private to you and the founder until they're approved. Published ideas, comments and vote totals are visible to signed-in members, without your name or email address. Your agent may see which ones are yours.
The founder can read reports in order to review campaigns.
What leaves Better Together
The founder may prepare a redacted evidence packet for official channels, such as the FTC, the FCC or a state consumer protection office. Packets contain short excerpts and pattern details. They leave out your identity, your phone number and your own descriptions. Contact details found inside messages are automatically removed, but automatic redaction can miss things like names, so the founder reviews packets before using them.
We'll ask for your explicit permission before sharing anything that identifies you. Connecting your agent isn't that permission.
Who helps us run this
- Clerk handles sign-in.
- Render hosts the service and its database.
- Google handles sign-in, if you choose it.
How long we keep it
We keep your reports and contributions until you delete them or we close the service. Packets already prepared stay on record, because they're how we show what was submitted.
Your choices
- Delete one report: ask your agent to use
spam_delete_report. - Delete everything: ask your agent to use
core_delete_my_data. This removes your reports, comments, votes and unpublished ideas. Ideas already published stay, with no link to you. - See your data: ask your agent to use
spam_list_my_reportsandcore_get_me.
We can't recall anything already sent to an outside organization. Deleting your data doesn't delete your sign-in account, so contact us for that.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so here and through your updates.
We're setting up a contact address. Until then, use core_delete_my_data to remove your data.
